Set The Tone For The Week

Set the tone before Monday starts making demands

Before you decide what you need to do, decide how you want to feel. Sunday has a funny way of becoming Monday’s waiting room. Before you know it, you’re thinking about the emails, appointments, errands, deadlines, laundry, and the seventeen other things waiting for you when

the week begins. But what if, before making the list, you asked yourself a different question? How do I want this week to feel?

Choose Your Tone

Choose your energy. Protect your peace. Then deal with the list.

Maybe you want to feel calm instead of rushed ... and of course you do! Maybe you need focus after a scattered week. Maybe you're craving energy, confidence, ease, or simply a little more room to breathe. Pick a word—or even just a feeling—that represents how you want to move through the next few days. It doesn't mean everything will cooperate. Life has never cared about our planners. 😂 But it gives you something to come back to when the week inevitably starts week-ing.

Protect the Feeling

Once you know how you want to feel, ask yourself: What supports that—and what gets in the way of it?

If your word is calm, maybe every invitation doesn't need a yes. If it's focused, maybe everything on your list isn't equally important. If it's energized, maybe you protect the habits that help you feel like yourself. Sometimes setting the tone isn't about adding another thing to do. Sometimes it's deciding what you're not carrying into the week.

Give Yourself a Ritual

This is where the little things matter.

Your morning coffee before everyone needs something from you. A walk before the day gets moving. The shower where you actually take your time. A favorite scent. Lighting a candle while you make your list. Ten quiet minutes when nobody gets access to you. Nothing dramatic. Nothing that needs its own damn checklist. 😂Just something that reminds you: I get to be part of the week I'm planning, too.
